The Story of Four Characters in a Maze
Once upon a time, in a land far away, four characters lived in a maze: two mice named Sniff and Scurry, and two tiny people, the size of mice, who looked and acted a lot like people today, named Hem and Haw. Every day the four of them raced through the maze looking for cheese. Cheese is a metaphor — it can stand for anything we want in life, whether that's a good job, a loving relationship, money, health, or peace of mind. And the maze is where we go looking for it: the company we work for, the community we live in, the relationships we're part of.
Sniff and Scurry, being simple mice, relied on simple mouse instincts. They knew what they wanted and pursued it directly — sniffing out the general direction of the cheese, then scurrying there as fast as they could. Hem and Haw, on the other hand, used their more complex human brains, full of beliefs and emotions, which helped them in some ways but often got in their way in others.
